Hem doesn't get along with the full mages that look down on sorcerers he's not afraid to demonstrate what he calls "Dismissal 102", which is what he calls 'obliterating elementals with sorcery'. Though a little reluctant to talk about his own past, Orn's been surprisingly supportive of Orn's a big ork with a big magical gift, which might be part of the reason why he's on the relatively boring Faculty of Thaumaturgy at DU. Staying in town with his alma mater means he can still keep ties with a few of his old classmates and his graduate research supervisor, the bulky Dr. Apparently The Lich King is something of a hacker, because he's pretty up-to-date on what Hem is doing and what's he's up to, and he seems to enjoy talking to him enough, despite his dirty mouth, to occasionally drop hints and leads on runs when they're playing. A little self-conscious, he keeps the windows drawn and uses old-fashioned incandescent light bulbs to help add some color back to his skin whe he's entertaining visitors (which is infrequent, to say the least, but occasionally Norb comes down for some beers and some old classmates drop by). He doesn't put much stock in the meaningless runes and frippery that wagemages put on to impress the suits (Rune of Bullet Summoning, he calls them), so he prefers his foci low-key and close to his person. He typically keeps his beard closely trimmed into a neat van Dyke.Įasily sunburned as he is, Hem keeps his (armor) jacket on when he's out during the day, but prefers to lounge in beaten-up casual wear when he's at home.
